Mowji

Privacy policy

Last updated

Mowji is made by me, Francesco Bonomi, an independent developer. This policy explains what happens to your data when you visit mowji.app or join the waitlist. I'm responsible for that data (the “data controller” under the GDPR), and you can reach me at francesco@mowji.app.

The short version

  • This site sets no cookies of its own and uses no ad trackers.
  • Visitor statistics are anonymous and don't include your IP address.
  • If you join the waitlist, I store your email address to tell you about Mowji. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • I never sell or rent your data.

Website analytics

I use Simple Analytics to count page views and a few actions, such as clicks on the waitlist button, form submissions, and whether a submission succeeded. It doesn't use cookies, fingerprinting, or any other way of recognizing you across visits, and it doesn't collect personal data.

Analytics requests go through this site's own server, which removes your IP address and any cookies before forwarding them. Simple Analytics is based in the Netherlands and stores data in the EU. I rely on my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The waitlist

When you join the waitlist, I collect your email address. I also record that you signed up for Mowji from this page. I use your address to confirm your signup, tell you when Mowji launches, and send occasional product updates.

Signups use double opt-in. You'll get a confirmation email, and nothing else is sent until you click its link. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to me.

Emails are managed and sent with Plunk, based in Belgium, which stores data in the EU. I keep confirmed addresses until you unsubscribe. Addresses that are never confirmed are deleted within 30 days.

Spam protection

The waitlist form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Turnstile checks technical signals such as your IP address, browser user agent, and connection fingerprint, and may set a strictly necessary cookie for the check. To prevent abuse, the server also limits how often a single IP address can submit the form. The limit is held only briefly and isn't stored. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in keeping the waitlist free of spam (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Hosting

This site is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles technical request data, including your IP address, to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Who else receives your data

The providers above act as my processors and handle data only on my instructions. Cloudflare is a US company, and some of Plunk's email delivery infrastructure may be outside the EU. Those transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Beyond this, I only share data if the law requires it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data I hold about you;
  • have it corrected or deleted;
  • restrict or object to how it's used;
  • receive it in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time.

To use any of these rights, email francesco@mowji.app. I'll reply within one month. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work.

Children

This site isn't intended for children under 16, and I don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

If what this site collects changes, for example when downloads and license purchases open, I'll update this page and its date. Significant changes will also be announced to the waitlist.
